Rob Warraner, Mottram Hall- Head of Golf
I have been employed by QHotels/De Vere for 5 years now; starting as a Central Golf Memberships Advisor and working myself up the career ladder within the QHotels Golf Business Team, that time has been an enjoyable and smooth experience, made easier by being given fantastic training and support from my General Manager's and other Directors of Golf within the group. The Heads Of Departments at Mottram Hall have been a great support too when needed.
My colleagues, managers and staff make this a great place to work. I would recommend QHotels to anyone looking to start a career in the hospitality industry, as they allow the opportunity to show off your skills and develop yourself in a fun and vibrant environment.
Annabelle Pritchard, Chesford Grange- Reservations Manager
Working for QHotels has helped me progress and gain confidence in my career path, through the support and assistance of all of the staff across the company. I joined the team as Reservations Manager at Chesford Grange in early October 2016. Prior to this I was Reservations Assistant at Nottingham Belfry Hotel. In 2016 I completed the Revenue Management QED Programme giving me greater knowledge to add to my existing skills. I look forward to working for the company and progressing even further.
Bridget Parton, Telford Hotel & Golf Resort- Event Sales Office Manager
It will be 10 years in August 2017 since I first walked through the doors at The Telford Hotel and Golf Resort as a new employee. QHotels purchased the hotel some 12 months earlier in 2006 and I feel privileged to have been part of the transformation of this hotel from a three star property to the fabulous 4 star deluxe hotel that it is today. Having worked in the hotel industry for the best part of 38 years, the last 10 years at QHotels have been truly inspirational for me. It's comparable with being an integral part of a large family where a fundamental sense of belonging, support, commitment, core values and desire to achieve have been truly amazing.
Emily Lockwood, Bridgewood Manor- Director of Sales
I started working at QHotels as a Sales Researcher back in January 2014, I found everyone so welcoming and supportive. By summer 2014 I had been promoted to Sales Manager of Bridgewood Manor Hotel. My hotel team have been so supportive for my development by encouraging me to apply for QED Senior Management programme that I am now studying, as well as encouraging my Centre of Excellence application that I have been awarded. In January 2017 I was promoted to Director of Sales, furthering my development.
Hollie Barrowclough, Tankersley Manor- Human Resources Manager
I have been with Q 5½ years starting as a Receptionist on the Placement Programme at The Oxford Belfry. It was my dream to work in HR and after 2 years on reception I moved into the HR and Training Coordinator Role. I attended my first Centre of Excellence lunch in 2014 and on that day decided that nothing was going to stop me from one day becoming a Centre of Excellence. I moved into my first on-property HR role shortly after this as Cluster HR Officer for The Queens Hotel and Tankersley Manor, after 6 months I moved on again and became Cluster HR Officer for Tankersley Manor and The Nottingham Belfry, I gained my first Centre of Excellence in 2016. Achieving Centre of Excellence for the first time was my proudest career achievement to date and I can't envisage anything beating that. On the 2nd January 2017 I took up my current role as HR Manager at Tankersley Manor."
Luke Saul, Telford Hotel & Golf Resort- Maintenance Manager
I have been with the QFamily now for just over 2 years. Since then, not only have I developed my skills such as leadership; I have also gained great work colleagues and friends. During my time, we as a Maintenance Department have achieved many things within the Hotel; such as obtaining a Gold Standard for our Green Tourism Board and our ongoing improvements in and around the hotel, which has reflected on our Service Vision ranking. My team and I have also taken on larger projects to improve our guests experience. I enjoy the challenges that the hospitality sector throws at me, it is challenging, unpredictable, pleasant, gratifying and enjoyable; which to me is the perfect mix for a great job.
Milena Sokolowska, Nottingham Belfry- Spa Manager
I started working at QHotels 5 years ago in our Spa as a part-time Spa Therapist. In 2015 after completing my degree in Spa Management with Hospitality I was promoted to a Spa Supervisor role. I have now worked my way up to Spa Manager through my passion and commitment to our Spa and QHotels. This was also rewarded with finishing 1st Place in Service Vision and being voted 'Best Team of the Year' by our hotel and Senior Management Team. In the last 5 years I have realised that people are the key to success and that without the correct training and development the Spa will only be as successful as the weakest therapist. I am very passionate about coaching my team and I want to continue this in helping and assisting new Supervisors and Managers learn Q procedures and to be a support network for them in their journey with Q.
Phil Lake, Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort, Leisure Manager
I have worked at Forest Pines now for 17 years and progressed from a Fitness Instructor up to my current position of Leisure and Spa Manager. Since QHotels acquired Forest pines in 2007 my training and development has been excellent. Through my experience I was asked to be one of the group trainers teaching pool plant and lifeguarding across the company. This really developed my confidence and knowledge in my field and with in the company. This also allowed me to meet most of my fellow leisure and spa team and share best practices with each other. I have been centre of excellence for a number of years passing on my knowledge and experience to new managers in the team.
